With the development of modern science and technology, the integration of art and information technology will be a new art teaching trend. This paper takes virtual reality technology as a representative, analyzes the role of information technology in art education, and enhances the interaction experience between students and art works by building virtual scenes. For interaction optimization, global illumination technology, rendering equations, and screen space data calculation are comprehensively used to construct an immersive and realistic scene. Students’ evaluation data for virtual interactions were collected, and a controlled teaching experiment was designed and conducted simultaneously. The results show that more than half of the students found the virtual scene-assisted innovative art teaching method acceptable. Comparing with traditional teaching, virtual reality technology has a significant positive effect on enhancing the four dimensions of students’ creativity, mind-flow experience, learning performance, and learning engagement (P<0.05). The addition of information technology such as VR helps the innovation of traditional art education.
