The rapid development of music information technology has brought profound changes to the traditional music teaching mode. This paper intends to adopt music information technology to promote the interactive development of music education and teaching, and apply music information technology to music teaching through the visualization method of audio spectrum recognition. An improved CQT spectrum recognition algorithm is proposed to optimize the CQT parameters, and CQT is implemented by using FFT to reduce the amount of computation. Facing the noise phenomenon in the process of audio signal recognition and recording, the wavelet denoising algorithm is proposed to do discrete wavelet transform on the noise-bearing signal and construct a new threshold function to suppress the noise in the audio signal. Combine the spectrum recognition, wavelet denoising and other music information technology proposed in this paper with music teaching, propose music teaching strategies such as timbre shaping and vocal exercises, and carry out music teaching practice accordingly. During the experiment, the number of teaching interactions between teachers and students was significantly increased, and the number of interactions was as high as 18 in the 5th music class. In the music teaching practice, Type 7 behavior (students’ response to the teacher) and Type 11 behavior (students’ thinking and connecting) had the highest number of interactions, reaching 24 and 20 times respectively, indicating that the curriculum concept of “student-centeredness” was reflected in the experimental process.
