Under the background of digitization and intelligence, the protection and inheritance of folk dance art faces new opportunities and challenges. In this paper, we investigated the recognition of dance artists on the application of digital technology in folk dance art, combined with the results of the analysis of the accuracy of digital technology on dance movement capture, and designed a platform for the protection and inheritance of folk dance art based on digital technology. Dancers’ recognition of the role of digital technology in “artistic protection”, “artistic propagation”, “artistic inheritance” and “artistic innovation” are 4.7, 4.44, 4.39 and 4.16 in order of “recognition”. The average accuracy of digital technology in dance movement capture is 0.986, with good robustness. The SUS scale results show that the platform of this paper scores 89.17, with a rating of A+, showing good usability. And the platform of this paper improves the dissemination effect of folk dance art by 5.21% to 22.78% compared to the traditional way. This study provides a practical strategy for protecting and preserving folk dance art through the use of digital technology.
