The rural revitalization strategy put forward, in order to better solve the “three rural” problem, to point out the direction, about the rural planning and development of all aspects of the research is endless. Graphic design shoulders the important task of realizing the new development and re-creation of spatial design, based on this, this paper launches the research on the application of graphic design in rural planning. From the point of view of semiotics, visual element is a kind of artistic symbol that expresses the design idea and connotation, in order to study the utility of visual element in depth, this paper calculates and analyzes the information dissemination efficiency of visual element. At the same time, in order to ensure the practical utility of graphic design visual elements in rural planning, this paper also combines the analysis of the impact of visual elements on the cognitive subconscious and puts forward the realization of the path. The main findings of this paper are as follows: (1) Information descriptive visual elements, information display visual elements and information interactive visual elements are further divided into 12 input indicators, and the information dissemination efficiency calculation and analysis results in descriptive visual elements>display visual elements>interactive visual elements. (2) According to the analysis of information acquisition efficiency, shadow elements and gradient elements have an impact on the acquisition efficiency of graphic information, and shadow elements and gradient elements have no impact on the acquisition efficiency of text information. (3) By analyzing the results of the HRV experimental data, it can be seen that different visual element backgrounds have an effect on the HRV of the subjects. (4) In terms of subjective preference for the gradient direction of the visual elements, the user’s preference for the left and right directions is not obvious, and the user prefers light on top and dark on bottom, and dark on top and light on bottom. (5) Based on the above research, we propose an effective path for the application of graphic design visual elements in rural planning, emphasizing the role of visual guidance, and promoting the development of rural planning while enhancing the aesthetic value.
