In the context of the new era of the century’s unprecedented changes, how to strengthen the cultural self-confidence of college students and enhance their cross-cultural communication ability has become a major issue facing the teaching of applied colleges and universities. The study uses crawler technology and voice quiz algorithms to build an intelligent language learning system. Taking an applied university in Guangzhou as an example, the study takes the TAM model and UTAUT model as the theoretical basis, and combines the questionnaire survey with structural equation modeling to reveal the factors related to the cross-cultural communication ability of the students of the applied university under the support of the intelligent learning system. The results show that the intercultural communication competence of students in this university is greater than 4 points, with no significant difference in gender, while the intercultural communication competence level of graduate students is higher than the competence level of undergraduates. The results of SEM analysis reveal that the intercultural communication competence of students can be enhanced by improving students’ perceived usefulness, perceived validity, community influence, enabling conditions, and learning satisfaction with the support of the intelligent learning system.
