Theater art, as an important part of traditional Chinese culture, demonstrates a unique Chinese cultural aesthetic, but with the wide application of information technology, the communication development of traditional theater faces great challenges. This paper explores the innovative development path of integrating interactive short video and theater creation. The study firstly analyzes the communication channels and influencing factors of the integration of interactive short video and drama creation according to the characteristics of short video communication. It also takes this as the theoretical basis to reconstruct the narrative of the integration of drama creation from the aspects of user participation and creation content, and explores the integration path of interactive short video and drama creation by combining the action meta-model. User participation on video platforms is mostly dominated by young people under the age of 26, and the combined proportion of the two communication channels, i.e. comprehensive video platforms and short videos, exceeds 50%. The mean value of each indicator of cognitive demand and social drive of drama short video communication ranges from 3.453 to 3.886 points, while each indicator of leisure and entertainment is higher than 4 points, implying that drama short video has a low degree of satisfaction of the audience’s social demand, while the sense of leisure and entertainment is very strong. This study explores the effective integration of interactive short video and drama creation, which provides theoretical support and basis for the creation and development of drama.
